How it all began
August 1991 On 1. November we re-opened the Gasthof zum goldenen Löwen. Our exclusive service was new to Langnau and gladly received by the town. Our philosophy: a sophisticated restaurant with gourmet menus, welcoming also our regular local guests, serving simple and fast daily lunch menus and to provide a haven for local associations and hockey game visitors.
Very soon we were admitted into the Gilde Restaurants and the Society of the golden fish. The Gault Millau restaurant guide awarded us with 13 Points to start with, later 14 and since October 2009 even during 8 years 15 points.s. We are very proud to meet this challenge each and every day and to perform at the highest level.
1996 we added the wintergarten extension followed by diverse renewals and enlargements (kitchen, handicap WC, new toilets on the ground floor, storerooms, guest rooms and garden).
2002 we were able the Hotel Emmental and to create 19 new guest rooms with bath or shower and WC. The event room was renovated and soon revived with various events. The unattractive cellar was transformed into a pleasant party cellar and later, 2006 into the cosy Cellar Bar. The following summer we opened the Beer garden and extended it with a wintergarden. Since autumn of 2010 we supplement this with a selection of fine wines in our Vinothek and offer fresh and crispy tartes flambées.

2020 - 2021: renovation of the hotel rooms
All rooms in the Hotel Emmental were completely renovated and refurnished during this period. Afterwards the corridors were painted, stairs to the 3rd floor were renewed and the bathrooms were partially renewed.
In August 2024: closure of the Gasthof zum goldenen Löwen
we plan to close the inn "Zum Goldenen Löwen" definitely.
Instead, a beautiful restaurant will be built in the Hotel Emmental under the direction of our chef, Michael Gfeller and the longstanding team.
In these last 30 years we already have 35 cooks, 11 service specialists and 1 service specialist,
14 restaurant specialists, 2 restaurant employees, 3 gastronomy assistants and 10 hotel specialists. There are currently 6 apprentices in our team of just under 30.
